I believe Intel, they never lie.

Although it is fashionable to hate on Intel and probably gets this article more views, I fail to understand the point of the article. Aren't most foundry plans that are 4 years+ away mostly speculation ? No customer is going to commit to a process technology that far out...and unless there is a denial from Qualcomm, the article is also speculation. Does the author know who are the confirmed customers of TSMC 2nm? Usually neither the foundry or the company is going to confirm any contracts since it is classified information.

Intel talked up their customers for their foundry service. Amazon one was over emphasized and Qualcomm directly said they are only evaluating and have no product plans. That's the point.

So the CEO of a publicly traded company just made up a customer ... Isn't that inviting lawsuits :) ?

He clearly jumped the gun on the depth of the interaction. Or the CEO of another publically traded company lied. You choose. I have the direct quotes above.

Or, you know, more likely that he knows more than was announced.

4 years is an eternity in semiconductor world...A lot can happen by then...China can take over Taiwan for all you know...pretty much making Samsung and Intel the only available foundries... I think both CEOs probably know more than what they let on ... Let us see what 2024+ brings...

Exactly. Qualcomm CEO comments make complete sense. Intel saying they are a customer and working on a major mobile platform, do not.

Amazon was announced as a packaging partner during the presentation, thats not anything new, its why Qualcomm got the first call out, and why Amazon only got a brief snippet of talk time. As for future Qualcomm products using Intel, do you really expect Amon to reply back to that question with 'We have a Qualcomm 985 chip in development we plan to make at Intel'? Most companies dont give product roadmaps past 2 years, not sure why you think he would discuss a 2025 product today.

Of course not. But Intel said they are a customer and working on a major mobile platform.

Qualcomm could have said we are working with Intel like we do TSMC and Samsung, details in the future. Instead they said no product plans, we are only evaluating. That's directly in the face of what Intel said.
